My QIDI Q2 Journey: 3D Printing for Mental Regulation in Daily Life

Around us, there are people for whom life is not always easy. They struggle with mental disabilities and various psychological conditions, such as trauma-related disorders, anxiety disorders, and autism spectrum traits. The protagonist of this article is one of them—things that seem ordinary to most people, like going to work, school, a regular daily routine, or leisure activities, are difficult or sometimes impossible for her.
Yet she always tries to look forward, gradually creating her own small "islands" in life. As a creative activity, 3D printing has become a key way for her to cope with daily life. By writing this article, she hopes to encourage others in similar situations to bravely try new things.
"I can create something": First Contact with 3D Printing
Over the past few years, I taught myself sewing, and also tried drawing, painting, crafting, and doing puzzles. Anything that could distract me, keep me engaged, and give me the feeling of "I can create something" was incredibly valuable to me.
Not long ago, I got a 3D printer. Unfortunately, it broke down after a few months, but even in that short period, it let me experience the joy and strength that 3D printing can bring. The hum of the printer, watching something grow layer by layer, and finally holding the finished product in my hands—all of this fascinated me.

With 3D printing, I can be creative, but I can also produce functional items that truly help me in daily life. For example, I designed hedgehog-shaped stress balls, boxes for storing emergency ampoules, and foot templates that work like small acupressure mats. This way, tools are created that directly support my therapy and my life.

The QIDI Q2 – A Ray of Hope
Thanks to QIDI, I now have the Q2, and I can only say: I already love it!
Its setup process is extremely simple, really suitable for beginners, while its performance is powerful enough to handle many materials. My first print—a "Benchy" —turned out perfectly. After that, I printed small fidget toys, pen holders, and my own designs. Even my first PETG print worked immediately.
What I particularly like:
The printer is enclosed, making it quieter and safer during operation.
It offers many adjustment options directly on the display.
It is very beginner-friendly.
The slicing software is intuitive to use.

For me, the Q2 is not just a 3D printer, but another tool. It gives me structure, distraction, creativity, and the feeling of creating something of my own. Even on difficult days, when thoughts are loud or anxiety is high, it helps me focus on a print or a model. This calms me, grounds me, and gives me many small moments of achievement.
Moving Forward: What 3D Printing Means to Me
Of course, my psychological issues won’t disappear just because of 3D printing, but 3D printing gives me a meaningful task. Every finished print tells me: "You can create something."
When I design models in software like Fusion 360 or Tinkercad, there is no room for negative thoughts. I become fully focused, let my creativity flow, and have a clear goal in mind. And when the printing is done and I hold the work I created in my hands, a sense of pride wells up in me.

Not every attempt succeeds on the first try, but that is part of the process itself. This kind of pressure is different from the pressure I usually face in daily life—it challenges me but doesn’t overwhelm me, and it helps me realize that I have the ability to persevere. This is extremely positive and important to me.
And these moments are exactly what I need—the strength to keep moving forward and never give up.
For Anyone Considering Starting with 3D Printing
If you are also facing mental health challenges, or if you are simply looking for a creative and meaningful activity, don’t hesitate to give 3D printing a try. There are countless free model files online that you can use for printing right away, even without much prior knowledge. As time goes on, you will gradually gain a deeper understanding of this technology, learn CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software, and realize just how much you can create on your own.
For me, the QIDI Q2 is more than just a 3D printer—it is a helper in my daily life; it is a piece of quality of life. I am very grateful to have this opportunity, and I am already looking forward to starting more projects with this Q2 3D printer.
For QIDI, the value of an enterprise lies not only in creating reliable equipment, but more importantly in seeing every individual who needs attention—especially those struggling with mental health issues and seeking support in their daily lives.
In the future, QIDI will continue to stand alongside these brave people who keep going in life. With 3D printing technologies and products that better meet their needs, we will provide support for their daily mental regulation and also build a bridge for more people to connect with life and reconcile with themselves.
